Since it has been … necessary to give so much to the child, let us give him a vision of the whole universe. The universe is an imposing reality, and an answer to all questions…. All things are part of the universe, and are connected with each other to form one whole unity. The idea helps the mind of the child to become focused, to stop wandering in an aimless quest for knowledge. He is satisfied having found the universal centre of himself with all things.
– Maria Montessori, To Educate the Human Potential.
Our founder and owner, Shineen Klein, had a vision for Modderfontein Montessori when she first saw the property many years ago. Her vision was recognised with a lot of hard work and with just the right staff members on board to help her make it happen. The school opened on 1 March 2010 with 17 Pre-school children who were eager to learn, and it has since expanded to welcome over 200 children in the Pre-school area as well as a full Primary school too.
The Primary school started small in 2013 when Modderfontein Montessori expanded with only seven Primary children starting in the first year. We began the construction of the much-needed permanent Primary school building in 2015, which today encompasses two Junior Primary classes and two Senior Primary classes.
Modderfontein Montessori School now has over 270 children enrolled across the Pre-school and Primary school classes. We take great pride in our environment and facilities and are constantly working towards maintaining and improving our ability to offer pure and authentic Montessori education.
Electing Our Principal
The popularity of the school mushroomed and in order to keep up with the rapid growth, Shineen needed a right hand person to assist in offering the exemplary Montessori education that the children and parents had come to enjoy. Sunita Parmar-Khoza had been one of the pioneer parents of the school when she enrolled her daughter in April 2010. Her experience in corporate management coupled with her natural passion for Montessori education resulted in her taking on the role of General Manager of Modderfontein Montessori in 2012. Sunita has since worked hand in hand with Shineen to ensure that Modderfontein Montessori remains the wonderful school that it was in the beginning and still is today.
Sunita continued her own Montessori education over the years and still to this day enhances her growth and knowledge of the Montessori philosophy through various courses and modes. Continued dedication to the school and Montessori way resulted in Sunita becoming the Principal of Modderfontein Montessori in 2015.
